Vincent Kompany nominated as Manager of the Year
Former Belgium captain Vincent Kompany is one of three nominees for the Manager of the Year award in the Championship, English football's second division. The nominations were announced by the English Football League on Tuesday.
Kompany's team, Burnley, are already assured of promotion to the Premier League in the Belgian's first season in charge. With six matches of the season remaining, they are close to winning the Championship title.
The former defender began his coaching career as player-manager of RSC Anderlecht in 2019. At the start of this season, he moved from the Brussels club to Burnley, who had been relegated from the Premier League.
Michael Carrick of Middlesbrough and Mark Robins of Coventry City are the other two nominees. The winners will be announced on 23 April.
