Flemish and Walloon employment agencies teams up for Work Week initiative
Forem, the Walloon counterpart of the Flemish employment agency VDAB, is organising a Work Week initiative, encouraging Walloon jobseekers to look for work in Flanders, it announced in a press release on Friday.
The aim is to find jobs for 12,500 Walloon workers in Flanders this year. Between 25 and 29 March, around 30 online and in-person activities will be held in Hainaut, Namur, Walloon Brabant and Liège to bring jobseekers and employers together. Additionally, the VDAB has planned a day at its training centre in Heverlee.
Forem says the vacancies in Flanders require little or no knowledge of Dutch, but they will provide information sessions about Dutch courses.
The Flemish government approved a new cooperation agreement with Wallonia last year to promote the mobility of job seekers. According to the latest Statbel figures for 2022, 45,000 Walloons are working in Flanders, and both parties hope to increase this number.
More than 15,000 vacancies in Flanders are now online on the Forem website.
