Women dominate nominations for the Belgian Music Industry Awards
With the Music Industry Awards, Flemish public broadcaster VRT, in collaboration with Kunstenpunt, annually crowns Belgium's most outstanding musical talent. Among this year's nominees are an impressive number of women.
Although Stromae, one of the best-known singer-songwriters in Belgium and far beyond, is again the biggest contender with nine Music Industry Award nominations, he can expect solid opposition from four female artists this year. Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul have eight nominations, and Angèle seven. And then there are the two stars of the Belgian musical youth series "#LikeMe". Pommelien Thijs can win five MIAs, and CAMILLE has been nominated four times.
Either way, Stromae remains the record holder across all editions, with 17 Music Industry Awards. This year, he is nominated in the categories of Album, Pop, Solo man, Artwork, Author/Composer, Live act and Producer. In addition, his song "L'enfer" can win the MIA for best music video and the Hit of the Year award.
The MIAs kick off the Week of Belgian Music, which runs from 30 January to 5 February 2023.
