World's best gather in Flanders for Belfius Padel Summer Gala

Some of the world's best padel players will gather in Knokke-Heist this weekend for the Belfius Padel Summer Gala/Trophy Circus. From 19 to 21 August, eight of the world's best padel players and four of the best women's players, including the world's number one, will play at the Royal Tennis and Padel Club of Knokke-Heist. The event is now almost completely sold out. 

The start for the Padel Summer Gala was given on Thursday by Flemish minister of Sport Ben Weyts and the mayor of Knokke-Heist. The padel gala is expecting more than 12,000 spectators this weekend and wants to put padel in the spotlight. 

"This Gala is a world premiere that aims to let padel shine in one of the most beautiful cities in Belgium. And let's not forget that A. Ruiz and M.Gonzalez defeated the number one duo in the world, A. Galan/J. Lebron, just 4 days ago, which bodes well for the very high level", says the Executive President of the gala Vincent Laureyssens. 

"Padel is booming in Flanders. It also makes the Flemish sport, who previously practised little or no sport. That is a good thing. In addition, events where local sportsmen and women can compete at the highest level can further stimulate interest," says minister Weyts. Interest in the gala is high, as most tickets have already been sold.
